Now,we’relooking for a Transport Shift Manager to join our team within our Cork Distribution Centre. This role will play a key part in the overall growth of the organisation along with helping tomaintainour core ethos here are Sysco – keeping the customer at the heart of everything we do. 

Summary:

Focused on leading our Transport team in our busy distribution centre and responsible for the operational planning & execution of our distribution functions inastate-of-the-artDistribution Centre. You must have experience of leading and building teams to drive performance, engagement and support our vision to being our customers’ most valued and trusted business partner. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Co-ordination of all depot activities and efficient dispatch of routes daily, ensuring the smooth running of depot while ensuring delivery procedures and policies areadhered to at all times

  • Coaching and motivating members of the delivery team in line with performance and absence management processes to ensure concerns are managed appropriately. Analysingtrends whereappropriate, coach and where necessary follow the disciplinary processes.

  • Maintaining open ongoing communication with departments across the business including sales, warehouse and with the transport team, including daily/weekly briefings with the team

  • Ensuring equipment breakdown and repairs are minimized and reported

  • Ensuring that company vehicles are properlymaintained,cleanedand safelyoperatedto reduce accidents and enhance the company brand

  • Manage incoming and outgoing goods and backhaul collectionson a daily basis

  • Relief driving as necessary

  • Identifying,coordinatesand delivers trainingasappropriatetomeet driver needs

  • Ensuring the premises aremaintainedto the highest standards

  • Ensuring Security and Health & Safety Procedures areadhered to at all times

  • Leading by example and applying company policy and procedures in a fair,consistentand unbiased manner

Requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a relevant management / supervisory role in a high volume, technology driven, time sensitive distribution operation

  • Experience within the Food distribution industry isadvantageous

  • Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook,Exceland Word

  • Ability to plan and organise your own and yourteamswork activities in a safe,efficientand effective manner

  • Strong knowledge of the Department of Transport regulations (Tachograph legislation, Work Time Directive etc.)

  • Proven ability to manage a team to deliver the highest standards of service

  • Proven ability to be an effective decision maker with a hands-on approach to the business

  • Ability to analyse,interpret and explainand present relevant business data

  • Fluent English – reading and writing

  • High levelof flexibility and problem solving

  • A full clean Category CDriversLicense, valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Card and have a digital tachograph card would beadvantageous

  • Mustpossessa strong knowledge of the surrounding geographical area
