We’re looking for a Transport Shift Manager to join our brand-new state of the art Belfast facility. This role will play a key part in the overall growth of the organisation along with helping to maintain our core ethos here are Sysco – keeping the customer at the heart of everything we do.

Summary:

Focused on leading our Transport team in our busy distribution centre and responsible for the operational planning & execution of our distribution functions. You must have experience of leading and building teams to drive performance, engagement and support our vision to being our customers’ most valued and trusted business partner.

Key Accountabilities:

·       Management of all depot activities ensuring the smooth running of depot

·       Manage efficient dispatch of all routes and products to customers on a daily basis.

·        Staff disciplinary and investigations

·       Coaching and motivating members of the delivery team

·       Analysing and monitoring the performance of drivers through various metrics, ensuring compliance in multiple areas as required

·       Maintaining open ongoing communication and collaboration with departments across the business and with the transport team, including daily/weekly briefings with stakeholders

·       Managing delivery procedures and ensuring policies are always adhered to

·       Effectively liaising with sales, QA, H&S, transport, planning, and all other operations departments to resolve all issues in a timely manner

·       Ensure continued legal compliance of all fleet and Drivers in line with the requirements and T&Cs of the Operator’s Licence

·       Ensuring that company vehicles are properly maintained and repaired in a timely manner to minimise downtime and availability clean and safely operated to reduce accidents and enhance the company brand

·       Manage incoming and outgoing goods on a daily basis

·       Manage Backhaul collections and ensure they are adhered to on a daily basis.

·       Other duties as and when required to meet the needs of the business

·       Identifies, co-ordinates, and delivers training as appropriate to meet driver needs

·       Ensuring the premises are maintained to the highest standards

·       Ensuring Security and Health & Safety Procedures are adhered to at all times

·       Leading by example and applying company policy and procedures in a fair, consistent, ethical and unbiased manner

Requirements:

·       5+ years’ experience in a relevant management / supervisory role in a high volume, technology driven, time sensitive distribution operation

·       Experience within the Food distribution industry is advantageous

·       Competent in the use of various Transport Telemetric systems such as Verizon, Tachomaster and Truckfile, and working knowledge of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word

·       Ability to plan and organise your own and your teams’ work activities in a safe, efficient and effective manner

·       Strong knowledge of UK / NI Transport regulations (Tachograph legislation, Operators Licensing, Work Time Directive etc.) Transport Managers Certificate of Professional Competence would be desirable (TMCPC)

·       Proven ability to manage a team to deliver the highest standards of service

·       Proven ability to be an effective decision maker with a hands-on approach to the business

·       Ability to analyse, interpret and explain and present relevant business data

·       Fluent English – reading and writing

·       High level of flexibility and problem solving

·       A full clean Category C Drivers Licence, valid Drivers Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) Card and a valid digital tachograph card would be advantageous

·       Must possess a strong knowledge of the surrounding geographical area

·       Have or be working towards a Transport Managers Certification of Professional Competence

·  Occasional travel within Ireland & overnight stays, the role will cover three rotating shifts between 0400 & 1900 hours
